CIESZYN – LITTLE VIENNA /26 km/
A town by the The Olza river being the border of Poland and the Czech Republic at the foot of Silesian Bekid with historical urban layout as well as the market square and peripheral streets. At the forested Castle Mountain you will find St. Nicholas rotund from the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries, preserved in nearly original condition. Previously a castle and the palace of Pszczyna Dukes at present, the building was renovated in the second half of the 19 century in the style of French Neoreinassance and is surrounded by a vast landscape park. The Castle Museum has preserved about 80 percent of the original equipment and furnishings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. After closing down the mine, there has remained an underground maze of galleries, chambers and adits adapted for visiting following two routes.
