CIESZYN – LITTLE VIENNA /26 km/

A town by the The Olza river being the border of Poland and the Czech Republic at the foot of Silesian Bekid with historical urban layout as well as the market square and peripheral streets. At the forested Castle Mountain you will find St. Nicholas rotund from the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries, preserved in nearly original condition. Among its historical buildings there are a Neogothic arbour with the 16th  well, numerous churches and monasteries, evangelical cemetery from the 19th century. 
 

PSZCZYNA /30 km/

Previously a castle and the palace of Pszczyna Dukes at present, the building was renovated in the second half of the 19 century in the style of French Neoreinassance and is surrounded by a vast landscape park. The Castle Museum has preserved about 80 percent of the original equipment and furnishings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The visitors can see for example Emperor's apartments,  room of  miniatures and armoury.

TARNOWSKIE GÓRY - SILVER MINE /68 km/

Previously a mining centre of lead ore with admixture of silver. After closing down the mine, there has remained an underground maze of galleries, chambers and adits adapted for visiting following two routes. In the Historic Silver Mine the visitors can see silver and lead workings, partly accessible only by boats.

ZABRZE - MINING MUSEUM /54 km/

The greatest attraction is the Museum of Coal Mining with 32 thousand exhibits. “Queen Luiza” museum is made up of two parts: the surface part with a unique steam lifting machine and the underground part – the visitors can learn different methods of excavating coal, building galleries and  witness the work of large mining equipment.

SILESIAN AND ŻYWIEC BESKIDS

Silesian Beskid – mountains with high snowfall level in winter with a number of hostels, touristic routes, ski tracks and ski lifts, particularly in Szczyrk, Wisła, Ustroń. Żywiec Beskid is a popular  region for recreation and winter sports with the most popular centres: Korbielów, Zawoja, Zwardoń, Węgierska Górska. Folklore traditions preserved in Istebna and Koniaków (lace products). In August in Szczyrk, Wisła, Ustroń.and Żywiec the Beskidy Highlanders' Week of Culture is held – a folklore event  with about 4000 performers.
